Prifi Laurence Soper, who was arrested last year in Pec after there was an international warrant under suspicion of the pedophile's arrest of 10 boys in the late '70s and early '80s, has appeared before the court to explain why he left Britain.
Insander had discovered his identity in May of last year, after Kosovo police had announced that he had arrested a British citizen in Peja, under suspicion of the pedophile, and that had made a huge stir in world media.
Lawrence Soper, who lived in Pec named Andrew, has shown why he decided to come to Kosovo.
Soper says at the time, his “life was completely destroyed”. He insists he did not flee towards Kosovo because he was guilty.
"Crazy, my fear and shame played a big role. If you want to destroy a priest or anyone else you just have to file a charge against them. Their future is destroyed, the character was destroyed”, he said, the BBC wrote.
But as with which money and what mission the mission had come to Kosovo, it was only to leave the country where his image was destroyed following charges of pedophiles.
He has told the court that a week before he would appear at the U.K. police station, he had withdrawn 182 thousand pounds from the Vatican Bank account and travelled to Kosovo.
He claims he was paid to study a mystic philosophy of Islam in the Balkans.
At the time I escaped on March 4, 2011, I was on parole from the police for six months waiting for the trial and a phone call came from a lawyer in England saying it would last another three months. I just realized that I couldn't handle”, Soper was quoted as saying before the court.
Ten students had accused the priest of sexual harassment between the 1970 ' s and the 1980 ' s. They accuse the priest of rape, sexual contact, and beating with the rod.
He had been arrested in 2010 but had been released after paying bail, yet he had never returned to London's police station in March 2011. A European arrest warrant was issued for him in 2012.
