Within the framework of the Stabilisation and Association Council meeting, EU foreign policy chief Federica Moghrini has held a face-to-face meeting with Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati.
At the joint press conference, Moghrin has confirmed Albania's commitment to EU integration and the importance of reforms Albania is carrying out, especially in justice.
This reform is a very important key to Albania's integration. It's a transformative process that serves many sectors like business, etc. Here's a lot of room for improvement to reach full potential, so we've given importance to this” reform, Mogher said.
It has praised the Albanian institutions that have launched this reform and has guaranteed the continuation of EC support for its implementation.
We also discussed rule of law, fighting crime and corruption. We need to keep going this way” Mogher followed.
While praising the role played by Albania in the Balkans, the chief of European diplomacy has underlined that next year could be a chance for countries in the region.
“We agree that the year 2018 will be a unique opportunity for the region as a whole and Albania to progress on the path to integration. I am sure that the Bulgarian EU presidency will work closely with the region. I am convinced that Albania can and will use the next six months to take key steps”, Moghrin added.
Meanwhile, Minister Bushati said that the year 2018 will be a crucial year for Albania.
“We combined that has a consolidation process of implementing rights and obligations stemming from this process. We expect the 2018 to be a crucial year for Albania, and we believe that opening integration talks will help us. Reform in righteousness is a unique opportunity. We also discussed the results of the fight against organised crime, and these results are a common product even with European law enforcement agencies. All of this testifies to our will.
