More than 20 quakes on Mount Teide have shaken Tenerife Island between Saturday and the following week's Monday.
The Volcanological Institute of Canary Islands (INVOLCAN) reported that earthquakes, starting between 0.8 and 2.0 in magnitude, hit the tourist town of Vilalofr, part of Spain.
A strong quake of 1,4 magnitude also struck the island at 11:05 local time on Tuesday.
Many earthquakes have struck the following island during 2017, and it is always important to note, it does not represent any kind of concern for the population.
The active volcano is located in the center of Tenerife, the largest in the Canary Islands of Spain in the Atlantic Ocean. The point is only 44 km (27 km) from the main distribution of Tenerife, Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Mount Teide is listed as the 40th highest volcano in the world, because it rises to an altitude of 3,718m from its base.
But in fact, Teide lies 7,500m on the ocean floor, making the third - highest volcanic structure on Earth.
An area of 100 square miles [190 sq km] around the volcano is a protected area under Teide National Park. Since 2007, the island is a World Heritage site of U NESCOS.
