Chinese designer Guo Pei has practiced the event for more than 30 years in China, until Rihanna wears the yellow cloak designed by her on the red carpet, two years ago.
This dress was not designed especially for the singer but had been on the design line for more than three years until one of Rianna's agents proposed the dress to adapt to Matt Gala's theme in 2015, which was “to see China through the Llupa”, the Kosova Press broadcasts.
The 50-year-old designer mostly works dresses for the Chinese elite who prefer local products, but her success was fulfilled after Rihanna wore her dress to the extraordinary event, making Pein the first Chinese designer to participate in New York Fashion Week, reports The Guardian.
The dress weighs 15 pounds [25 kg], is about 5m long, and contains more than 50,000 hours of handwork and has been completed for 2 years. Despite the fact that Rihanna managed to wear her dress and look wonderful in it, a model she had tried hadn't been able to hold to the end and the fashion show was broken. Pui said the dress was so heavy and magnificent because when she designed it she had in mind a woman who could carry heavy loads, as if she was able to keep the whole world in her arms.
