More than 675 skulls of men, women and children have been discovered by archaeologists after a one-and-a-half-year investigation, reports The Independent”, the Periscope broadcast.
The facility is believed to be part of Huey Tsompantl, a layer of bones that became legend among Spanish conquistadores, where they colonized Mexico. Their descriptions cited a tower of skulls.

Andres de Tapia, a Spanish soldier who fought Cortes in the invasion of Mexico in 1521, almost certainly recorded the structure, said architect Raul Barrera for “Reuters”.
But Tapia wrote that there were thousands of skulls, and researchers believe they will find more as the dig continues.
But they've always believed that skulls belonged to male warriors killed in inter-physic warfare before the Spanish came.
The discovery of new skulls and women has puzzled archaeologists.
Something is happening that we haven't recorded, and this is really new, first in Huey Tzompantli”, Rodrigo Bolanos said, a biological anthropologist who investigated the case.
The mystic structure stands near the site of Templo, one of the main Aztec temples in their capital, Tenochtitlan, which took place in Mexico City.
This finding is the second major discovery in Mexico City in less than a month.. /Periscopi/
