In his speech, which is still ongoing, Putin has said the European Union has promoted separatism with recognition of Kosovo's citizenship, alluding to the situation created in Spain and Catalonia.
“The EU states supported separatist sentiment in Europe when they bowed to US pressure and supported the partition of Kosovo from Serbia. Now they face the consequences, such as the Catalonia crisis”, Putin has said.
“The EU has encouraged increased separatism by supporting Kosovo's independence”, Putin was quoted as saying by Russian media during his speech.
