Prime Minister Haradinaj congratulates Swiss Confederate President Leuthard

The prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, has received congratulations on his choice at the head of government, by the President of the Swiss Confederacy, Doris Leuthard

Your Honour.

With your appointment as Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, I have the pleasure of conveying my sincere congratulations to you. On behalf of the Swiss Federal Council, I want to congratulate you on success in this prominent position, and to wish you prosperity for your country and personal well-being.

Switzerland and Kosovo have close relations, characterised with significant human and cultural ties. The large Kosovo community living in Switzerland has had the role of the bridge, strengthening our common understanding and contributing to the prosperity of both countries. Stability and development of Kosovo is another important pillar of our bilateral relations. Switzerland remains committed to continuing its mission in supporting peace by participating in the Kosovo International Force (KFOR). Civilly, the Swiss Agency for Co-operation has supported Kosovo on its path towards regional and European integration since 1998, and will continue to do so in the future.

As you stressed after taking office, significant reforms await Kosovo. The implementation of these reforms will benefit all Kosovo citizens, and this will contribute to prosperity and stability not only for the country but also for the region as a whole.

Based on this, I am convinced that excellent relations between our two countries will continue to develop in the future.
