A 53-year-old German man has admitted to poisoning children's food and has threatened to poison other food products in stores across Europe, as part of his blackmail plan, German authorities have announced.
“The suspect has admitted that, in addition to the five infant food jars he has poisoned, for which police have informed him, he has not poisoned any other product in the supermarket, reports the AFP, broadcast Television.
The suspect, described as a person with “mental problems”, has been arrested after German police during this week have informed the opinion that the blackmailer has demanded millions of euros in order not to poison products in supermarkets.
The challenger, according to police, has poisoned five children's food jars and informed police of their store in the town of Friedrichshafen.
Taking information from citizens, after having issued the report with the suspect's description, police have arrested the 53-year-old man in the vicinity of Tuungen, about two hours of driving away from the store where jars of poisoned food were found.
Poison chemicals have been found in child - feeding jars.
The German Ministry for Consumer Protection has said that toxic substance has been found in large quantities, even deadly.
Authorities during the week have announced that several commercial companies have received e-mails through which blackmailers have threatened to poison food at their stores in Germany but also abroad, if they do not pay over 10m euros.
