The owner of the English club for 10 years, Mike Ashley, officially confirmed his departure at the end of the year through a communique published on Newcastle's website.
“As one of the oldest and most successful clubs in Premier League and for the benefit of all fans in the United Kingdom and the world, Newcastle United gets a new direction for a future of more success,- reads the team communiqué, to give Newcastle the best opportunity to improve results and make investments necessary in achieving high levels, the current club owner saw fit to release it in sales. ”
Mike Ashley, who reports Forbes magazine has a fortune of 3.2 billion dollars, took full control of Newcastle in 2007 after buying it for 134 million pounds.
