Dawn Carwana Gallizia died on Monday afternoon after her car, a Peugeot 108, was destroyed by an explosive device that broke the car and scattered its parts in a nearby field.
Gallizia, whose writings have lured more readers than all the country's newspapers together, has reported on leading and underground figures in the smallest member country of the European Union.
Its most recent writings have hit Malta's prime minister, Joseph Muscat, and two of his closest associates, by linking companies abroad, close to them, with the sale of Malaysian passports and at payment from the Azerbaijann government.
