A political party in New Zealand has been ordered to pay more than $400,000 to the American rapper, Eminem for using music similar to his 2002 hit “Lose Yourself” on a television commercial during the national elections.
The National Party had violated copyrights, releasing the song during the 2014 election campaign, which they had titled <x0Eminem Esque”, Reuters reports.
A court in New Zealand has found the party had essentially copied the song “Lose Yourself”, broadcast Time.net.
The National Party had used this song 186 times during the campaign before removing it from broadcast, the Court said.
