In addition to 1 year in prison on bail for Enver Hasani and six months for the other two indictees -- Hakif Veliun and Albert Rakipi -- who can pay the sentence at 10,000 euros in fines -- Hasani and two other convicts are forced to return UP's over 70 thousand euros in compensation.
That is the content of the indictment that Pristina's Constitutional Court announced on Wednesday of the UP book translation scandal.
Ex-rector of UP Enver Hasani and the other two indictees -- Hakif Veliu and Albert Rakipi -- have been sentenced on Wednesday by the Pristina Foundation Court for Criminal Work “taskeering” in the familiar election of translation of books into the UPP, while Hasani was at its helm.
In the trial, Hasan is pronounced a year in prison on bail, which he may not execute in the next two years unless he commits any other criminal acts.
Until, Veliu and Rakipi have been sentenced to six months in prison, which they can compensate for by 10 euros in fines.
The sentences for the three are considered minimal, as criminal acts that charge all three convicts are punishable from 6 months to 12 years in prison.
However, the same act pronounced today after noon obliges all three convicts to compensate for the amount of 70,131.27 euros. That's what 90 days is for.
Also cancelled has been the contract for translation of English texts into Albanian, which was won by the Institute for International Studies (ISN), which was already guided by convict Alberr Rakipi and was the object of the charge against them.
The convicts are also forced to pay for the procedural expenses.
This is the court's full decision:
The Constitutional Court in Pristina -- the Department for Criminal Affairs today -- has publicly declared the act against indictees E. H, H.V. and A.R., who in co-ordination committed criminal fraud by Article 341 pars. 3 connected to par. 1 linked to Article 23 of the Kosovo Criminal Code.
The accused E.H. has been convicted and sentenced to prison sentences of 1 (one) year, which will not be executed unless the accused commits criminal acts in the period of 2 (two) years.
The H.V. accused has been convicted and sentenced to prison sentences of six months.
The accused A. R has been convicted and sentenced to prison sentences of six (six) months.
The accused H.V. and A.R. are replaced with a fine of 10,000 (ten thousand) euros, which the accused's sentence is obliged to pay in the 60-day term after the failure of this act. If the defendants fail to pay the sentence in the court-appointed term, the prison sentence will remain in force.
The three accused are charged with damaging the University of Pristina to make up for the damage solid in many of the 70.1.1.27, in the 90-day term after the integrity of this act.
The sides are eligible for complaint at the Kosovo Court of Appeal.
