Tahiri: Kosovo risks entering institutional blockades again

The Alliance is not seeking political positions to support the unblocking of institutions, but concrete pledges on some issues it considers vital for the country, Alliance re-elected MP Besnik Tahiri has declared.

He said his party has presented a political platform with six demands, while stressing it will not block the president's election process. And Tahiri also did not rule out the possibility of repeating the institutional blockade.

Tahiri said the platform presented by Alliance Chairman Ardian Gjini is not an idea of the moment, but a political stance related to current developments in the country.

This is not an idea. This is the political platform of the Alliance, which connects with the situation where Kosovo is today and what is political disinclined by the government and the party that has won the elections. How so? Kosovo is in danger. Kosovo has great risk of repeating itself, again entering the blockade. The fact that whether the president or the government is first to be elected implies that the idea is to seize a post. The alliance is the only party that has provided the platform, only by stating the following. We don't want positions, we don't ask for names in government, we don't want positions in diplomacy, but we want that for topics that are vital to Kosovo: energy sustainability related to the investment of liquid American gas and investment in thermal power plants, raising VAT thresholds to 100 thousand euros, not to bid landwork and investments in infrastructure. These are the demands of the Alliance. And on these requirements they're saying to Kosovo: we don't have conditions, we don't want positions, you're unlocking the country because you've got 45 or 46 percent of what you got”, Tahiri said.

He also commented on statements by the re-elected MP from the Vetevendosje Movement, Arberie Nagavci, who had criticised the possibility of Ramush Haradinaj's support for president.

Vetevendosje's “juha is the lowest political language in parliamentary history. They are champions of such language. Ramush Haradinaj never begs for a vote. He never said I was a candidate. He said: If the opposition supports its candidacy, then there will be an election race. So this position would at least unblock Kosovo. It is unknown who would win, but it would have a candidate for president by the opposition and a candidate from them. It has nothing to do with what she said, nor do we ask for a vote. We have said that we cannot proceed with a position where a party will take three positions, to take three positions, because then it would mean turning the parliamentary state into an authoritarian state”, he said.

Asked whether the Alliance would support a Vetevendosje Movement candidate for president if its demands are met, Tahiri said the party does not intend to block the process, but the decision on the vote will depend on concrete candidacy.

These are our conditions and we don't block the process. So we go to the quorum. Whether we vote it or not, it depends on people and what names they make. We need to know the name, but these are our conditions”, Tahiri told Online Economy.

Alliance Chairman Ardian Gjini at a media conference Friday said Kosovo is risking reentering the crisis of lack of institutions, which according to him does not go in favour of citizens or Kosovo strategic development. /Periscope/
