Real is considering changing the captain's selection system, after events at the strip store.

Antonio Rüdiger ran into Álvaro Carrrasin early in the week, while on Thursday Aureéleen Tchoaméni and Federico Valverde were also involved in a physical conflict, which resulted in his hospitalization.

These incidents were the boiling point for a dressing room that has become increasingly divided in recent months.

One of the figures at the center of the situation is club captain Dani Carvaali, who has been placed on the bench by coach Álvaro Arbeloa in recent weeks, while growing doubts about veteran defenders.

Especially, his leadership skills are questioned.

The inability to stop the mentioned conflicts, along with the fall of Real Madrid performance at the biggest matches, has led some members of the dressing room to seek a new system for electing the captains, according to “Diario AS”.

For many years, Real Madrid has chosen captains based on age in the club so who was the longest part of the team.

Carvail assumed the role by Luca Modriić last summer, and according to the current system, he is expected to be followed by Valverde when he leaves, which could happen at the end of this season.

However, many within the dressing room want the group of captains to be elected democraticly, as with the way the rivals of “El Classicos”, Barcelona, determines their captains.

Barcelona uses a hybrid system that even takes into account old age, so Ronald Araúno is actually their captain.

Clearly, major changes are needed within Real Madrid, and this may be one of them.

The decision on a possible change of the captain's system will be in the hands of Florentino Pérez and the club board, while it remains to be seen whether they will decide that a new approach is necessary.
