Mitrovica police with appeals: Beware of messages and calls, they are fraud

The South Mitrovica Regional Police Directorate has appealed for increased citizens' care, following increasing cases of fraud and bank accounts through various electronic communications.
According to police, suspected persons are being presented falsely on behalf of financial institutions or different companies, contacting citizens through SMSs, phone calls and online platforms.
They require personal and banking data, including card numbers, codes and passwords, with the aim of illegal gain.
In some cases, messages are sent to citizens with links that appear to be an official page, where accounts are claimed to be suspended unless the data is updated or immediate verification is carried out.
Police appeal to citizens that they never share personal or banking data with strangers, open suspicious links accepted through SMS or email, and verify any direct communication with relevant institutions.
Authorities also urge citizens to report immediately any suspicious cases in the law bodies.
