Italy's Superkupa will not be played in Saudi Arabia, two potential destinations taught

Italy's Superkupa will not take place in Saudi Arabia for the 2026-27 edition, Lega Serie A President Louis De Siervo has confirmed.
The latest edition of the Superkupa was played in Saudi Arabia and organisers had contracted option to host the next season, but it appears they have decided not to activate that clause.
“is a complicated issue, we have several contracts and we can say that it will not be played in Saudi Arabia,” said De Siervo for “RAI Radio Parliamento”
The idea currently exists to be played in the US, another international option, but also the possibility of a year being held in Italy”, he added.
The Italian supercup is expected to continue with the format “Fital Four”, which includes semifinals between the winner of Serie A and the missing finalist of the Italian Cup, as well as the next confrontation between the World Cup winner and league vice champion.
The winners of the two semifinals then face the finals for the trophy.
The December 2025 edition was won by Naples, which defeated Bologistna in the finals.
Superkupa is usually played in neutral stadiums, to organisers it will have to find suitable facilities for the new format.
There is another problem with this format, as Inter won the championship title and is also the finalist of the Italian Cup, which means an additional team should be involved to complete the tournament's four.
