“Disabilities”, deepening investigation of FIFAʹs, US World Cup risk of being tarnished before start

A few weeks before World Cup start 2026, trouble for FIFA seems to have just begun.
The world football government is facing tremendous legal pressure in the United States, while New York and New Jersey prosecutors have announced the opening of an official investigation into the sales procedures for tournament tickets.
In a joint statement, senior justice officials, Lettia James and Jennifer Davenport, stressed that there are strong doubts that a large number of fans have been deceived about the actual location of the seats they bought at the stadiums. Authorities of the two states have already requested detailed information on all sales, with a particular focus on eight matches planned to take place at “MethLife Stadium”, the arena where the grand finale will be played on 19 July.
The alarm had been given since mid-May, when California Attorney General Rob Bonta asked FIFA to explain the allegations of “misleading business practice”, following a research deepened by prestige The Athletic.
Strateospheric ticket prices for this historic 48 - team edition have already caused massive indignation among sportsmen around the world. This severe intervention of American justice seems to be the drop that is spilling the glass, putting FIFA behind the wall on the eve of the event. It remains to be seen how this new crisis will be managed, and if the three organising countries manage to ensure a successful tour without a shadow of scandals. /Periscope
