The defense witness concludes the testimony: The quality of the recordings was partly undecipherable in judging Thaci and others

Forensic engineering expert Helena Fraser has completed her testimony to Kosovo's Specialised Chambers in the trial against Thaci and others in the “case against justice management“.
In this case, besides the former president, Thaci is also charged with the Smaj Union, Fadil Fazliu, Isni Clay and Hajredin Kuci.
During the witness's questioning by Thaci's defence, expert Fraser said that the quality of audio recordings was undecipherable in a considerable part.
“The quality of audio recording was undecipherable in a considerable part and also highlights the importance of external source or context information to help whitewash. We need to be sure that the contextal external information is reliable and that analysts are independent because we know that any disorientative character of contextal information could possibly have an impact on transcripting in such a way that it is much harder to correct mistakes further”, she said.
The expert from Australia, Helen Fraser, has started her defense witness yesterday.
In this case, the former president Hashim Thaci, the Smaj Union, Fadil Fazliu, Isni Clay and Hajredin Kuci are on charges of criminal acts against justice.
At the initial session on February 27, 2026, the accused were acquitted of criminal acts being charged.
