Citizens absorbed in loans: The value of bank loans reaches billions of euros

The gross credits of commercial banks in Kosovo have reached 6.96 billion euros at the end of April 2026, marking an increase of 103.30m euros, or 1.51 per cent compared to the previous month, the latest Kosovo Central Bank report (BQK) said.
According to CEC data, the value of new loans during April was 235.72m euros, while the average interest rate in new loans was 6.88 per cent, writes Indexline, broadcasts Periscope.
Meanwhile, assets of commercial banks have reached 9.76 billion euros, marking a drop of around 19.29m euros compared to the previous month.
Client deposits have also suffered decline during April, reaching 7.84 billion euros, or 23.75m euros less than in March.
New deposits agreed during April have reached a value of 119.41m euros, while the average interest rate in new deposits was 3.29 per cent.
The credit-deposit report in April 2026 was 88.71 per cent, while the interest rate margin on credit and deposit was 3.60 per cent.
Also, the total capital of commercial banks has reached 1.15 billion euros, while credit projections have increased to 161.04m euros. / Periscope/
