Memphis basketball player Grizzlies, Brandon Clarke, has passed away at age 29.
Grizzlies distributed a public statement expressing grief over Clarke's loss, saying they are “shaken by this tragic loss”.
According to the announcement, Clarke was “an extraordinary player and a better person whose influence in the organisation and in the wider community of Memphis will not be forgotten. ”
Clarke was born in Canada and moved to Phoenix at an early age, where he attended the Desert High School. He was elected 21st in the 2019 draft by Oklahoma City, but immediately moved to Memphis Grizzlies. Clarke had a promising debut season in 2019-20, being selected on the All-Rookie team.
During his seven - year career with Memphis, Clarke played 309 matches, on average marking 10.2 points and 5.5 match dances. He had experienced an injury to the calf, which forced him to be absent for most of the 2025-26 season.
