MPB: From tomorrow they start application for permission and document registration

The Ministry of Internal Affairs announces to the public that, in line with statements by the prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Albin Kurti and EU Special Representative Mr. Peter Sorensen of March 14, 2026, is taking all necessary measures for the full implementation of the Law for Foreign and Automedia Law, after the informative period preceding March 15th, may be initiated on March 16th, respectively.
Also, within the framework of this process, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will reveal the necessary administrative acts for the opportunity of registration, for a period of three (3) months, of birth facts, marriage and death registered until March 15th, 2026 in the parallel Serb institutions, with the aim of integrating them into the Civil Register of the Republic of Kosovo.
The ministry will issue the necessary administrative decisions for the provisional recognition of the identity card issued by the secular Serb parallel structures, exclusively for identification purposes, in line with the legal framework in force.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs, in co-operation with relevant institutions, including the Civil Record Agency (ARC) and the Kosovo Police, will provide all the information and instructions needed for citizens affected by these decisions. At the same time, the ministry will be prepared for the start of issuing temporary permission after accepting list of workers in the health and education system from municipalities and following the individual application of these people, in line with legal procedures in force.
MPB stresses that all institutional actions are being undertaken to ensure regular, co-ordinated and comprehensive implementation of laws, ensuring access to services and legal security for all citizens, in line with European standards and rule of law.
Also, the ministry announces all foreign citizens that the address statement within three (3) days of entry into the Republic of Kosovo is a legal obligation and can be made through the address statement app, which can be used by phones with Android, iOS and Kosovo Police Web site, as well as the nearest police station.
