This concern is growing even more now, as the Kosovar Power Supply Company KESCO has asked the Kosovo Energy Regulatory Office (ZRRE) for price increases to over 20 percent of the electricity tariffs for 2026.
While, according to this area's connoisseurs, the main reason for the warned growth relates to a host of accumulated factors, including procrastinating the process of opening the energy market, the lack of serious investments in domestic production and efficiency, as well as delays in Kosovo's market integration with the region.
While the decision is expected to be taken on April 1st, citizens call on the state to intervene in this direction.
Citizens, Sherafedin Kulinja, says that every three months prices are rising and that its pension is not enough to cope with expenses.

The tightening of tariffs does not rule out even the senior researcher at the Institute for Development Policy (INDEP), Dardan Abazi.
He says delays in domestic production and the opening of the energy market directly affect price hikes. He stresses that citizens should compensate for high-priced imports and demand the release as soon as possible of the ZRE consulting report.

The ZERE is expected to review this request by KESCO and will decide whether to accept it or not.
