Ymer: Protests should not be held at KED, but at ZRE, Government

Democratic League of Kosovo candidate, Janina Ymer, has reacted over the protests against KEDS/ KESCO, praising that they are diverting attention from the main responsibility for increasing the price of electricity.

According to Ymer, KEDS/ KESCO has no legal competence to decide the rise in the electricity price, as this decision is made by the Energy Regulatory Office (ZRRE) and the government in power. It stresses that the primary responsibility falls on incumbent Prime Minister Albin Kurti, and the institutions he controls.

Ymer adds that, although there are other reasons for criticism of KED, such as insufficient investments or problems with tension, costing energy is the result of institutional decisions in favour of energy businessmen, not of the distribution operator. According to her, the address of responsibility is the Office of the Prime Minister.
