Mitrovica Hospital successfully removes a tumor about four kilos [4 kg] from a patient

According to the hospital report, the patient with the U.K. initials, born in 1968, has been admitted to the Surgery Department with complaints of severe pain, inflammation, and serious obstacles to digestive treatment, including obstipation. After detailed imaging and laboratory examinations, she has been diagnosed with tumors permaga abdominis, as well as peritonitis serosa, an inflammation of the abdomen membrane with fluid collection.

Due to high risk and large sizes of tumoral mass, the medical team has decided on immediate surgery. The operation has included the complete removal of the tumor, exploration of the stomach's hollow, cleaning and setting up the drain.

During the operation, doctors have successfully removed the tumorous mass that weighed about four pounds [4 kg], restoring the patient's vital functions and eliminating the risk of her life. Currently, the patient is in stable health, while tumoral mass has been sent for a hetopatological examination at the QKU Institute of Pathology.

The hospital suggests that intervention was carried out by a multidisciplinary team made up of abdominal surgeons Dr. Fatbath Raj and Dr. Linda Uka-Moses, as well as anesthesiologist Dr. Veton Plana, with the support of the instrumentaries, anesthesimonist technicians, and nurses of the Surgery Department.
