The closing word of former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci at The Hague is covered by a large number of international media.
So wrote Freedom Greicevci, defence analyst for President Hashim Thaci and former ambassador to the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, the Washington Post writes that the former president of Kosovo presented himself Wednesday as a state man and peacemaker, while urging international judges to free him from what he called groundless accusations, including murder, torture and persecution dating back to his nation's fight for independence.
He and three other former leaders of the separatist Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK) have been in custody since November 2020 at the tribunal in The Hague, which is officially part of the Kosovo judicial system. They now have to wait with many possibilities for months until the judges reach decisions.
In his final statement before the court, Thaci, who has always insisted he is innocent, said the only right “would be my full release from charges”.
