United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) said the motto was involved in drug trafficking operations and that three “narco-terrorists were killed during the attack.
The announcement was also accompanied by a video that, according to the American authorities, captures the ship's impact on the eastern Pacific.
No further details have been provided concerning the identity of victims or the location of the ship's origin.
According to data from SOUTHCOM, more than 40 attacks on ships allegedly trafficking drugs in the Caribbean and Pacific since last September.
The death toll in these operations is at least 147. However, Washington has yet to present evidence to prove that all hit ships were actually involved in illegal activities, which has raised questions about the scope and legal framework of these military operations.
