On February 26th, call for two Constitutional Court members opens, women's application encouraged

After meeting with the Special Commission for the Review of Candidates for the Constitutional Court, Haxhiu also said they would agree that the commission would particularly encourage women to apply to these two positions.

The “then in line with constitutional obligations, with the law on the Constitutional Court, but also with the announcement we have received from the Constitutional Court, we met today as the special commission for electing the two judges to the Constitutional Court. We agreed with consensus that the declaration or call for two members of the Constitutional Court be made on February 26th, so after a few days the public call to that end will be opened. In this case we agreed that the commission will particularly encourage women to apply to these two positions, given that in the current composition of the Constitutional Court there are six men and only one woman on the other. So on this occasion I invite all candidates who meet the terms under the Constitutional Court law to apply in these positions. Of course, we will fully ensure that the process is transparent, be also professional, and those who deserve to be in these two positions will be voted by the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo, though it then depends on the will of the Republican Assembly deputies,“, she said.

It warned there would be an announcement even for members of the Judiciary Council.

“Sic we have said consistently, the Kosovo Assembly has many obligations in relation to fulfilling the vacant positions, so except today we announced the competition for two Constitutional Court judges, we will proceed tomorrow with a member of the Judiciary Council“, she said further. /EO
