According to one spokesman, commercial flights still help evacuate the country, while it is possible to exit through land routes.
According to the list for the prevention of German Foreign Ministry crises, there are still several hundred German citizens in the Islamic Republic. The German Embassy in Tehran is not working at full personnel capacity, and for that reason it can only provide limited consular assistance.
Earlier, even a German Defence Ministry spokesman explained that Bundeswehri has further reduced his personnel to Iraq's Irbil. In co-ordination with partners over the past few weeks, the mission has steadily decreased. Currently there is only “personel absolutely necessary”, while the rest have returned to Germany through Jordan, he said.
Due to fears of a possible American attack on Iran, European states are taking security measures for their military personnel in the Middle East.
After Germany, Norway also sent some of its 60 soldiers back home to the region. This is done because of the security situation, a spokesman for the Norwegian Armed Forces announced.
