EU: Kallas willing to organise soon high-level meeting for Kosovo- Serbia

Dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, mediated by the European Union since 2011, remains the key process for normalising relations between the two countries and for their advancement on the path towards European integration. The process entered a new phase in 2023 with the Brussels Agreement on February 27th and the annex of agreed implementation in Ohrid on March 18th, which envisions mutual respect for sovereignty, non-blocking in international organisations and concrete steps towards de facto normalisation.

However, implementation of these agreements has remained partial and contested by both sides, while the European Union has imposed measures on Kosovo in 2023 due to tensions in the north, conditioning further developments with the enlargement of the situation and constructive engagement in dialogue.

In this context, recent warnings from Brussels for organising a high-level meeting signal efforts to turn the process into political tracks.

A European Union official has announced to Front Online that there is currently no additional information concerning holding a summit within Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.

In response to the media, the official referred to the post on the European Commission's Social Network and High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Kaya Kallas, where she stressed that she is “willing to organise a summit soon”.

In response, beyond this public statement more details cannot be shared at this stage.
