The most affected areas may experience up to 60 inches [60 cm] of snow, while over 12 inches [30 cm] are predicted in cities such as Philadelphia, New York, and Boston, writes A2.
Extreme conditions have made travel almost impossible, with public transportation stops and bans on circulation in some areas.
About 8 thousand flights have been canceled, mainly at New York airports, where the emergency situation was announced.
Authorities in the American economic city have imposed a night travel ban.
Also, schools have been closed, for the first time since 2019 because of snow.
