CRU “Pristina” for rising water price: Because of energy costs and operational spending

As if the costs of Kosovo's citizen were not enough, on January 1st, this year (2026) citizens were even heavier in their pockets, making them pay more dearly for the price of water bills after the decision by the Regulatory Authority for Water Services for Three Years' Review [...]

KRU spokeswoman “Pristina”, the doctor said that rising water bill prices were due to increased electricity costs, water treatment and infrastructure investments.

“Yes, the actual rise in water prices occurred from January 1st, 2026, and it is a period of three years defined by the Regulatory Authority for Water Services, as we, all of us, have applied for rising water prices due to the high cost of water treatment, high operational costs, then investments in maintaining the water supply and sanitation infrastructure, so we have increased electricity. All of this has caused us to make such a request to the Regulatory Authority, and after their analysis, then the price of water has increased from 0.44 cents to 0.63 cents of water services. Meanwhile, the volume fee for sewage services -- 12 cents -- for the domestic sector”, she said.

As for the increase in electricity in March and whether it will affect the increase in water bills, the doctor said that there is still no official matter.

And we can't say anything about this, because we haven't talked about it, it's something that the Regulatory Authority for Water Services can answer, because they're also defining water services and channeling fees, the doctor stressed.

The Regulatory Authority for Water Services has announced that on 1 January, water bills to citizens will be on new fees. In Tatar Commands of the Ministry in 2026, the rate increase is in CRU bills “Prishtina”, CRU “Prizren, CRU “Hedrodrin” Pee, KRU “Mitrovica” Mitrovica, CRU “Gjakova” Bloodlust, CRU “Bifurcation” Ferizaj, KRU “Hedromorova” Gilan.
