The procedure is surprising when it requires a 45-year prison sentence, more than double that Serbian leaders were given. Any assessment of the KLA's goals that ignore this dispute is incomplete and from an indirect point of view, inappropriate. The court cannot properly and correctly judge the KLA targets, structure, actions, isolated and no matter the conditions that led to its creation. Armed resistance was created, not before oppression, but after oppression. The defence shows that the KLA was born only after years of increased discrimination of violence and complete removal of institutional and legal protections for Kosovo Albanians”, Beqiri said.
He cited the Serbian regime's measures towards Kosovo Albanians, who, according to Beqiri, were part of a Serb discrimination policy.
“in this context, evidence proves that the shared goal of The KLA was the liberation of Kosovo by Serb forces and the protection of the civilian population. None of these purposes are legally or actually contain criminal targets. On the contrary, international acts acknowledged that the KLA was born from the population that suffered oppression, and not that it required taking political power illegally”, the Albanian lawyer said.
