The Abdixhiku family enters the electricity business: The wife of the ruling River at the electricity trading company

The energy sector, being among the most sensitive and strategic in the country, makes this development an object of public interest, especially when it connects with family members of high political figures.

Democratic League of Kosovo Chairman Lumir Abdixhiku has acknowledged that his wife is the owner of a company that operates in the field of electricity, but has denied that she does business.

Here, no. There's no electricity trading company, it's false... there's no electricity trading. You're wrong. It's an electric company, but not a trade. It's a special license, you know. That's the theme of”, he declared Obadiah after being questioned by reporters.

However, according to data from the Agency for Business Recording, the company “Ampera S.P. K” figures as economic operators who, among the recorded activities, also have electricity trading.

Official data indicates Albina Kastrati -Abdijku owns 25 percent of the shares in this company.

This data creates a difference between Obadiah's statement and official records.

The LDK, the oldest party in Kosovo, is experiencing one of the most difficult periods in its history, as the December 28th snap elections brought its second worst result, Paparaci reports.

Abdixhiku has offered the party's Parliament his resignation from the mayor's position, following the result noted in the December 28th early parliamentary elections.

In this election process, the LDK won 13.24 per cent of the vote, the second worst since the post-war outcome.

But, some party figures have called for his irrevocable resignation, failing to comply with the confidence vote.

Among them is Hykmete Bajrami, who has resigned irrevocable from the party deputy chairman's position and has demanded the same from Abdixhiku.

The Democratic League of Kosovo held the party's Parliament on 31 January, where President Abdixhiku called for the delegates' confidence vote.

Obadiah, however, survived his vote of confidence.

Abdixhiku has said the Parliament has held over seven hours of discussion, while continuing to stay at the party's helm has described it as privilege and responsibility.

The closed vote gave the LDK membership verdict that I am grateful for, but I am also grateful for continued support, but also the objections in this process before”, he told the media after the voting process ended.

Abdixhiku has said the party has adopted two political statements -- one for party reshuffle, and the other for the political situation in Kosovo.

As far as the second statement goes, he has said the party has pledged open stands with the whole political spectrum, with the aim of providing a stability for the future of the Republic of Kosovo. He has said the party is interested in finding consensus on the issue of Kosovo president as well.
