President Vjosa Osmani has asked political parties to propose names for new members at the Central Election Commission.
Osmani has already sent a letter to parliamentary groups that are registered in the Kosovo Assembly.
In this letter, the head of state has asked political parties for their proposals to be sent to the Presidencys within legal terms.
Under the Kosovo General Election Law, the mandate of members of the CEC is linked to the Certificate of the outcome of the Kosovo Assembly elections.
In this case, the law imposes on the president, who no later than 30 days after the country's election is issued to the parliamentary groups to ask members of the Central Election Commission, Klankosova reported.tv broadcasts Periscope.
In Article 61 of this law, where the mandate and appointment of CEC members are discussed, details on the issue are provided.
“The president of the Republic of Kosovo, based on the results that have emerged from the general election, not later than 30 days after the signing of the Parliamentary/Political pipelines, says in paragraph 6 of this article.
In addition, this article specifys within what time political parties should respond to President Osmani.
“The parliamentary/political armies within the seven-day deadline send their proposals, and the appointment by the president takes place within five (5) days of sending proposals”, it says further.
The mandate of CEC members is linked to the election cycle mandate and starts in principle no later than sixty (60) days after the certificate of election results for the Assembly.
The beginning of the mandate under this article means the conclusion of the pre-term.
The outcome of the February 9th election, the CEC certified on March 27th.
