On September 10th 2024, the Appeals Court panel in the Specialised Prosecutor's Case has reduced the sentence to former KLA commander Salih Mustaf from 22 years in prison to 15 years in prison.
The panel issued its decision regarding the new definition of condemnation in line with the 194ʹ1) finer rule.
The decision has followed instructions from the Supreme Court's ruling of July 29, 2024, regarding Mr. Mustafa for the protection of legitimacy, who canceled Mr. Mustafa to 22 years in prison and rescinded the case to the Appeals panel”, the report said.
Salih Mustafa was arrested on September 24, 2020, on charges of war crimes.
He was convicted on December 16, 2022, and sentenced to 26 years in prison. On April 6, 2023, the Judicial Chamber ordered Mustafa to pay a total of 207 thousand euros in compensation for the damage inflicted on the eight victims in the case. Mustafa appealed the decision on the first instance and the sentence handed down by the Judicial Chamber.
