Ukrainian troops have advanced up to 30km into Russia, in what has become the deepest and most significant incriminating since Moscow began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
The Russian Defence Ministry said its forces had engaged Ukrainian troops near the villages of Tolpino and Obschy Kolodez, while the offensive in the Kursk region entered on the sixth day.
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Kiev of “fearing Russia's peaceful population”, the BBC reported.
During the night, President Voldymyr Zelensky directly accepted the attack for the first time, saying Ukraine was pushing the war to “the extension of the aggressor”.
