Six suspected spies were arrested in Germany only this month, in what has become a flood of charges of Russian and Chinese spying.
For the far-right party Alternatives to Germany ( The AfD has proved especially shameful because their two main candidates for the June European elections have been questioned, CNN reports.
An assistant to Euro-depute Maximilian Armou, who tops the party's list, has been arrested on suspicion of spying on China. Jian G is charged as “employee of a Chinese secret service”.
Prosecutors have also launched preliminary investigations into the politician himself on alleged payments from pro-Russian and Chinese sources.
