Lawyers criticise institutions for lack of visits to former KLA leaders

The institutions of the Republic of Kosovo are not doing enough in the case of former KLA leaders who are being tried at The Hague. That is how lawyers in the country estimate, as they seek help by establishing departments with a group of lawyers, the Online Economics reports.

They also criticise the lack of visit by institutional leaders to The Hague, while calling it “distation in relation to them”.

I don't think it's okay to have a visit from the leaders of our former KLA institutions because it shows a distance from our institutions in relation to them, and here I think we should have more visits from the heads of institutions and the same thing gives confidence that in this legal battle we are united not to be accused by international institutions and states for interventions in justice can be reserved in their statements regarding or their guilt, except for statements that have to do with what leaders believe in their innocence and believe in a fair international decision at The Hague, Halili said.

And the other lawyer, Arber Jashari, has said not enough statements by the Justice Ministry on lawyer's payments.

There's a trial that's great and maratonic and very important that requires professional access, so it's not enough to say that we're going to pay lawyers or assign specific quotas, regulations or laws. Legal laws and directives and you have to adapt to the real situation. Each defendant there, so the UCK leaders should be given the opportunity to defend themselves as they want and with the team he thinks will make it through”, Jashar said.

Speaking of the defence the state is making to former KLA leaders, Jashari has called for political resentments to be put aside and united. He considers this to be a debt to them.

We all owe those who fought. Before our people have been solidified in various ways to get help, and now that we have our country, it is good for the state to take care of and help as they deserve, as it comes to the protection of some of our most subtle values, the only names must be forgotten that prejudices can have current powers. We are talking about the 1998-1999 period, which is the most important period for Albanians and our state has to do much more”, Jashar said. /eo/
