Former Prime Minister Fatos Nano celebrates his 71st birthday today.
He was born on September 16th 1952 and grew up on the “Hoxha Tahsim” road in Tirana.
The SP's historic leader has been going through difficult days at the hospital, due to the lung health complications that have started since the period of Coved-19. As of August 29th, he is located at the “Hygeia” hospital, but fortunately he is out of danger to life.
Fatos Nano has been Albania's prime minister three times, and for 14 years and 1 months the leader of the Socialist Party. This period includes years of imprisonment, when the Socialists decided to hold that chairman and receive instructions from the cell for leading the party.
He is the first politician to reform the Labour Party by being elected chairman of Ramiz Ali not only by changing the name from the Albanian Labour Party to the Socialist Party of Albania, but by structured and directed by Western democratic concept, while membership was dominated by the old Bolshevik and eastern concept.
Fatos Nano is also the first politician of this party to hold unjustly the burden of responsibility for communism, becoming the first Socialist to publicly condemn the communist nomenclature and Enver Hoxha's regime and changing the communist mentality in the party.
