Riztuccia: Unstable situation in Kosovo, only solution is political solution

Kosovo remains the highly unstable “” even though the security situation has calmed since the major outbreak of violence in May, the commander of KFOR troops said Wednesday.

Italian Major General Angelo Michele Ristuccia said the tension between the two sides remains high due to political disputes.

“The situation is calm after the events of May 29th. In a way, however, the situation is still very unstable. We perceive tension because of ... the number of outstanding issues”, he told reporters at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Reuters reports.

If we were to make a diagnosis of what's going on, I would say the most disturbing disease is distrust between the parties”, he added.

This means there is no military solution. The only solution is a political solution”.
