Miftarian: Instead of talking about European integration, Kosovo faces sanctions

The executive director at the Kosovo Institute for Justice (IKD), Ehat Miftaraj, said Kosovo is seen as a black dot on the world map from the European Union state (BE) and other states, due to punitive measures imposed by the EU now and a month. According to him, of these [...]
According to him, from these measures imposed by European countries, the Kosovo Government has not been invited to meetings by EU institutions to discuss specific chapters related to European integration.
Miftaraj said this situation would have to be an alarm for the government led by Albin Kurti, where, according to him, rather than discussing EU integration steps, is being discussed for the removal of punitive measures by the EU.
“There is no doubt that it would be an alarm for Kurti Government, for all ministers in the Kurti Government, for Vetevendosje Movement because in 2023, in the third year of Kurti's government when we would have to balance today where Kosovo is in the European integration process, today it is talking about how to remove the EU's punitive measures imposed on Kosovo<1>, he said.
According to Miftarjat, Prime Minister Kurti himself has stated that of these measures the damage caused to Kosovo is 500m euros.
“I have areas dealing with financial assistance from the EU to Kosovo, Prime Minister Kurti himself has mentioned that they are somewhere roughly meant, the damage it has done to Kosovo is 500m euros. But the most important part I believe in where there is an extraordinary regress is European integration. Today when we would have to talk at what stage is the agreement for social stabilisation, where is Kosovo's EU integration app. All these have marked regras and mainly the topic of debate is whether or not the measures will be removed, he told Online Economy.
IKD's director stressed that from these decisive measures, Kosovo is seen as a black spot from the EU state and other states which are reluctant to invest in the state which is under EU punitive measures.
“E have seen Prime Minister Kurti primarily the ministers of this government being invited to several forums which have secondary character, we can say, that they are interested in Kosovo's EU integration. We have seen that we have very few meetings of government ministers Kurti with EU institutions has decreased the level of meetings mainly with Kosovo Parliamentary deputies who are fortunately not subject to EU sanctions. We, like the IKD, but other NGOs can say that in the last 7-8 months, we have not even accepted an invitation that concerns meetings that we have had not only with us but the government of Kosovo with the EU institutions for specific chapters related to European integration and many other areas that I can say Kosovo today is looking at as a black point from the EU but also by other states which in a way hesitate to invest in a state as if it is Kosovo which is under punitive measure from the EU reply, he said.
