Chairman PDK, Memli Krasniqi, has said Sunday's attack on the village of Banjska in the north is a direct attack on the state of Kosovo.
A police sergeant died in the attack in Banjska, while a border police officer was wounded.
Krasniqi has called on all citizens for restraint on Facebook, while he has invited international partners to condemn the attack and to ask Serbia to ban interventions on Kosovo territory.
“I am shocked by the news of the murder of one member of the Kosovo Police and the injuries of another, today in northern Kosovo. I express my deepest sympathies to the family of the fallen police officer, and I wish that the injured policeman would recover as quickly as possible. Today, at this moment of pain, we remain united in supporting our police officers, who, despite the daily challenges of attacks by Belgrade-controlled criminal gangs, are defending state sovereignty in the northern part of our state. I invite all to strongly condemn this criminal attack against the Kosovo Police, which is a direct attack against the state of Kosovo. I demand from the responsible bodies that full investigations be made as soon as possible and those responsible be brought to justice to receive merit sentences. At the same time, I appeal to all citizens for vigilance and restraint, because the escalation of the situation in our country's north depends only on Serbia and criminal gangs under its control. Also, I invite Kosovo's international partners to clearly condemn the attack and call on Serbia urgently to prevent interventions on Kosovo's territory and to provoke further the” situation, Krasniqi wrote.
