A researcher in the United Kingdom Parliament has been arrested on the basis of the Official Secret Act, amid claims he was spying on China.
UK police have confirmed that two men, one in their 20s and another in their 30s, were arrested on the basis of the act in March.
Sources have told the BBC that one of them was a parliamentary scholar involved in international affairs.

A spokesman said the prime minister had met with Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang during the G20 summit in India and “outlined his significant concerns about Chinese intervention in UK parliamentary democracy”.
” A man in his 30s was arrested at an address in Oxfordshire and a man in his mid-20s was arrested at an address in Edinburgh”, Metropolitan Police said.
Both men were sent to a police station in southern London and were later released on bail by police until a date in early October, he said.
