Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq said that “has many ideas, only solutions are ending”, when asked whether there is any new idea of the situation in Kosovo at the meeting with the European Union's special envoy for dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Miroslav Lajcak, broadcasts Serbian news agency Beta.

The Serbian president met with Lajcak the day before, on August 30th.

We could have been down ten hours. I'm afraid it would be difficult to find a solution when talking to people who don't want a solution, when talking to people from Pristina who are looking for reasons for conflict and attacks on the Serb population in northern Kosovo”, he said.

Vuciq stressed that these things “do not automatically say”, because he said that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti's desire is to make “appear” Serbs from there.

“ ...not to mention how many thousands of miles we are away from the formation of Serb majority municipalities. Pristina does not think that will happen”, Vuciq said.

Lajcak has announced in his profile on the social X network, previously known as Twitter, that on August 30th he had discussed with Vuciqik for the <x0th-level meeting in September, efforts to reduce tensions and hold new local elections in northern Kosovo, as well as implementation of all agreements signed during the” dialogue.

This meeting took place after Lajcak announced on August 28th that there was a key “meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurtin, in the margins of the Black Strategic Forum, under preparations for the next summit, which is scheduled to be held in September.

On August 30th, the European Union reiterated its call to Kosovo and Serbia to create the conditions for continuing dialogue on normalising relations between the two countries.

On 3 June, the EU announced that it expects Kosovo and Serbia to act responsibly and immediately engage in dialogue to find a sustainable solution to the situation in northern Kosovo, a solution guaranteeing security and shared democracy for all citizens and paving the way for implementation of the Agreement on the road to normalisation of relations, reached 27 February.

The EU later declared that this solution includes starting work on forming the Serbian majority municipalities without delay or further preconditions, as well as that Kosovo authorities should announce extraordinary elections in the four municipalities in the country's north as soon as possible.

Vuciq and Kurti last met in Brussels on 2 May, nine days after extraordinary local elections in northern Kosovo, which were boycotted by local Serbs. During that round of Brussels dialogue, the Declaration for Missing Persons was adopted, and the first draft of the Serb majority municipalities' Association station was released.

Both had also been in Brussels on 22 June, amid a crisis in northern Kosovo, but then had not held a joint meeting.

The recent escalation in northern Kosovo began on May 26th, when the new mayors of Serb majority, ethnic Albanians elected in Serb boycotted elections entered municipal buildings in Zvecan, Leposaviq and Zubin Potok, with the help of the Kosovo Police.

Since then, the European Union and the United States have called for announcing new elections in four municipalities in northern Kosovo.
