Kurti, Rama, elections in northern Macedonia

Albanian political parties can only reduce the vote of the Albanian electorate if they manage to group up as two blocs, political connoisseurs stress.

These comments have preceded intensified meetings among leaders of Albanian parties in opposition, the Besa Movement, Alternative and the Democratic Movement, which has recently been cut off from the ruling Democratic Union for Integration, which is currently represented in Parliament by three MPs.

Contacters of political issues say joining Albanian parties in a cause can be achieved through a strong regional figure among Albanians.
From this prism, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti's informally warned visit to Skopje on 11 August is seen.

Open Balkans Draw Close to Albanian Opposition in Northern Macedonia With Prime Minister Kurti

Izet Mexhiti, who has initiated the formation of the new Democratic Movement, tells Radio Free Europe that in the function of deepening Albanian opposition co-operation with the Movement of Position, it is also the informally warned visit of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti on Friday (August 11th).

Rama- Kurti rivalry demonstrated even in northern Macedonia

For connoisseurs and political developments, Kurti's arrival in Skopje is seen as pushing for the Albanian position on the part of Prime Minister Kurti to co-operate as a common front, but also demonstrating rivalry with Albania's prime minister, Edi Rama, who was one of the projectors of the Open Balkans initiative.

Mr. Rama and Mr. Kurti, their rivalry for influence or political dominance in Albanian language space extends it even to northern Macedonia, says Xhelal Neziri, a political expert, recalling that it was Rama who invited leaders of the main Albanian parties in Northern Macedonia to the meeting before the Alliance for Albanians was persuaded to participate in the <x0 government.

We already know that from 2015 onward, we have very close co-operation between the Vetevendosje Movement and the Besa Movement. This rivalry (between Rama and Kurti) is a fact that it is visible even in northern Macedonia.
But, positive in all this rivalry is that, perhaps, at last in the upcoming elections we will have a race between two blocs or coalitions of Albanian political parties, one in power and the other in opposition, and certainly we will have and more content offers”, Neziri praises Radio Free Europe.

Northern Macedonia faces an important process involving changing the Constitution, including Bulgarians in preambles respectively. On the contrary, it risks blocking the country's integration process.

The Macedonian opposition says the lack of votes to advance constitutional changes shows that power has no legitimacy.

Even the Albanian opposition also demands early elections, as it emphasises, Northern Macedonia and the European future remain the stumbling block to the specific power structures that are caught by corruption.
