In August, all flights to Kosovo-Albania air corridor are expected to begin

The air corridor agreement between Kosovo and Albania is still not being implemented overall. The deal between the Kosovo authorities and Albania was signed in 2020.

But, Environment, Space Planning and Infrastructure Minister Lieburn Aliu tells Kosovo that implementation of the Kosovo- Albania is expected to happen this month.

On the other side of Albania's Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, they have not responded to Kosovo Prress regarding the implementation of this agreement.

From the Agency of Air Navigation Services in Kosovo have told Kosovo that with the publication of air points at Albania's AIP in July 2023, it is expected to shift the attributes of these points from Eurocontrol, respectively, by Network Manager to become flight planable as well.

Minister Aliu has provided more details about the Kosovo-Albania air corridor.

“As far as corridors are concerned with the Republic of Albania, corridors are defined, they have now appeared on the web site. They're not yet, I don't know these technical expressions that have air experts, but they need to be confirmed as such, in order to become planned on international flights... In most international flights made from Pristina Airport to other airports, which is the shortest route from those points in the Republic of Albania. In return, part of them are not realized because they are often unplanned”, Aliu said.

Minister Aliu has declared there is willingness and will even with the deputy prime minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluk and with Albcontrol authorities, all flights start to be realised by August 2023.

I think that in August is the time when they would have to appear on (web page), there has been a deadline of the moment when the Web site was published, and it is the time when it should be implemented and I think we will have it soon. Otherwise, the will exists, even with Transport Minister in the Republic of Albania Belinda Balluk, even with Albcontroll authorities. So they have”, Ali said.

From the Agency of Air Navigation Services in Kosovo in a written response to Kosova Prers have stressed that the “Letter Air Corridor Agreement between Albania and Kosovo was signed in 2020, and by 2021 is beginning to be implemented. These corridors have begun to be exploited by the end of 2021 on tactical grounds. With air points published at Albania's AIP in July 2023, a change in the attributes of these points from Eurocontrol is expected, respectively, by the Network Manager to become the flight planable soon”.
