About 30 Afghans left at Bondsteel Camp, some missed necessary security verifications

For some 30 Afghan citizens who fled the Taliban invasion, the road to the U.S. has been blocked at Liya camp, within the US military base, Bondstheel, in Ferizaj. Some have not passed the necessary security verifications, and others are still under way. State Department says [...]
In August 2021, Kosovo approved the United States' request to accommodate up to 2,000 Afghans who had worked with foreign forces in the last 20 years after the Taliban received Kabul in mid-August. Afghans took refuge in two locations very close to each other in the Bechtel-Enka company camp, as well as Liya camp within the US military base in Kosovo, Bondsteel in Ferizaj.
The first group of Afghans arrived in Kosovo on August 29, 2021.
According to the Government of Kosovo, about 1,900 Afghans have been sheltered in Kosovo since then. Most of them have moved to the US, some have been denied entry into the United States because they have not passed the verification process. A number of them have moved to a third country.
Some 30 Afghans are still found in Bondsteel, according to the Government. They are not allowed out of the camp.
Their position in Kosovo was said to be too short, at least a year, until, as Kosovo Interior Minister Jedal Svecla had stated, “long-term long-term documentations were adjusted in the United States”.
But, after the first year passed, Kosovo decided to extend the deal for another year, until the end of August of this year.
That deadline could be extended for another year, they say in Government.
