After more than four and a half years, The Hague-based Special Chambers have stopped investigating Driton Lajci, the former leader of the Financial Support of Individuals Charged by the Special Court under the Justice Ministry.
News of the investigation against him is confirmed today by Toby Cadman's lawyer's office, Lajci's defender.
Driton Lajci was suspected that in the quality of the Special Court's Protection Office Leader, he had obstructed justice and uncovered certain confidential documentation.
His defence lawyer, Toby Cadman, in an interview for the public broadcaster, has praised the disruption of investigations into his client as the first victory of court processes in the Specialised Chambers.
This is the first success. This had to be decided four years ago, but the judge had taken four years to stop the investigation. It's very clear that he has denied all criminal behavior, but he had to wait four years and renounce his governmental position. That is to regret, but it is good that the investigation has now been fired against him”, Cadman said.
