People's lawyer, Naim Qeyaj, has said that the government cannot make decisions concerning the media and their public broadcasting.
The one on the “show InfoNata” in Tv 1 said there are other constitutional mechanisms that decide on media licensing and their work.
“I don't want to be issued on the side of the assessment of the decision for reasons that I haven't seen this decision, and I haven't accepted any complaints or reactions from either side about my request for an opinion. However, I have come out the day before with a communiqué, attitude or opinion of the ombudsman about freedom of expression, freedom of the media, and to say more clearly that mechanisms that guarantee media freedom in the Republic of Kosovo, by hinting and negotiating more rightly on the basis of the mandate I have as a ombudsman, that Kosovo has built a powerful constitutional mechanism that guarantees in any form media freedom and has established such mechanisms that enable the government and executives to make decisions concerning their media, public broadcasting and media work. There are other constitutional mechanisms that decide on media licensing and their work is the Independent Media Commission”, he said.
The cell also said that these decisions could be attacked” by legal means.
“On the other hand, public authorities' decisions, issued by the September administration in this case by any level -- whether agency or ministry -- have legal procedures, can be attacked by these means, then there are judicial protections -- may also be handed down in court through administrative conflict against public administration decisions, but the last one as an instance is the ombudsman's institution...”, he added.
We remember that today, the Ankes Commission at the Ministry of Industry, Undertaking and Trade has rejected Klan Kosovo's complaint about suspending the business certificate.
