The European Commission will take a number of measures against Kosovo and will be communicated this week, and they will include suspending the funding programme for Kosovo, suspending continued support for procurement and signing contracts, suspending participation in high-level events, suspending bilateral visits, as well as Kosovo's proposal for the investment framework for the Western Balkans that will not be prosecuted at this point.
Today, EU Director General for Neighborship and Enlargement Negotiations Gert Jan Coopmann has said during the European Union's meeting.
He stressed that the situation is distressing, and that is the most inappropriate thing to do when war is taking place in Ukraine.
According to him, progress must be achieved in the creation of association, and unfortunately so far there are no indicators for the breach of the situation by Kosovo institutions.
Kosovo's <x0orties have not responded to these requirements unfortunately, the European Commission will certainly take a number of measures that will be communicated a little later this week and they will include suspending work in the sense of Stabilisation and Association organs and suspend the Kosovo funding programme, as well as the proposal submitted by Kosovo for the investment framework for the Western Balkans that will not be processed at this moment, continued support for procurement and signing contracts will also be suspended. Summit events and bilateral visits will also be suspended. Now let me stress that we do not take these actions lightly and these should be viewed as temporary and returnable when we see the authorities' steps in Kosovo to return to dialogue and implement pledges that have been given”, he said.
According to him, it is essential to use all the tools they have as the EU to complicate the situation. /kp/
